The Leaderboard Tells You Who This Ecosystem Is Serving

·

Claude is not for you. It’s a tool for developers, by developers.

Looking at the ten fastest-growing Claude skill repositories in September 2026 actually validates this exact sentiment: the charts are dominated by engineering frameworks, complex architecture tools, and opinionated workflow configurations built by veteran engineers, rather than casual users.

These are not Anthropic products. They are community-built skill files—instructions users install into coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. The supplied September leaderboard reflects which ones developers starred most that month.

Core software engineering

Ponytail (DietrichGebert/ponytail) targets code excess. Its stated premise: the best code is the code you never wrote. It adds /ponytail-review and /ponytail-audit commands, with an explicit constraint that validation, security, and error handling are never candidates for deletion.

Matt Pocock Skills (mattpocock/skills) names four failure modes and provides a skill for each: a pre-code grilling session, a shared domain glossary to cut verbosity, TDD enforced through red-green-refactor, and a command to scan codebase architecture for deepening opportunities.

Security Audit Skill (cloudflare/security-audit-skill) runs a six-phase structured audit: reconnaissance, coverage-led hunting, adversarial validation (a separate agent tries to disprove each finding), structured output, independent record verification, and reporting. Severity requires demonstrated impact, not checklist deviation.

Superpowers (obra/superpowers) packages a complete development methodology as a plugin: spec before code, TDD driven by subagents, code review between tasks, branch-finishing workflow.

Addy Osmani Skills (addyosmani/agent-skills) maps nine slash commands to the development lifecycle, from /spec and /plan through /build, /test, /review, and /ship.

Graphify (Graphify-Labs/graphify) converts a codebase—code, PDFs, SQL schemas, configs, images—into a local queryable knowledge graph via AST parsing and Claude vision, with no vector store. The maintainer reports a 71.5× token reduction per query on a 52-file corpus versus reading raw files.

Developer-adjacent technical work

I Have ADHD (ayghri/i-have-adhd) imposes ten output rules on a coding agent: action first, numbered steps, one concrete next step per turn, tangents suppressed, lists capped at five, no openers or closers. The problem it solves is agent verbosity.

Diagram Design (cathrynlavery/diagram-design) generates self-contained HTML and SVG across 42 diagram types—architecture, sequence, data flow, Wardley map, UML class, database schema, and others—without Figma, Mermaid, or a build step. It targets engineers communicating design decisions.

Broader communication and productivity

Humanizer (blader/humanizer) rewrites AI-generated text against 26 patterns from Wikipedia’s guide to signs of AI writing: staged run-ups, decorative formatting, inflated significance, chat residue. Getting past AI detectors is explicitly not a goal.

Impeccable (pbakaus/impeccable) records durable product context in PRODUCT.md, offers 24 design commands from /audit to /distill, and applies 59 deterministic detector rules for common AI design tells—Inter for everything, nested cards, gray text on colored backgrounds.

The contrast that matters

An engineering lead shipping a login feature with rate-limiting and token validation wants to know whether the agent will write 300 lines where 30 would work, whether the diff introduces a path-traversal risk, and whether the tests catch a forged token. Six of the ten repositories above address at least one of those directly.

A business user cleaning up a client proposal email—too long, tone off, formatting looks generated—needs Humanizer. The rest of this list does not apply.

That gap is not about intelligence. It is about problem match.

The supplied September leaderboard measures GitHub stars—a developer-native signal. Developers are far more likely to star a repository than business users are. It tells you what developers valued in September, not what all Claude users need.

Before recommending Claude Code to your team, ask what problem you are actually buying. Most of these repositories assume you write, review, audit, or deploy code as a primary function. If you do, several address real discipline gaps. If you do not, a sophisticated ecosystem can still be the wrong fit for your work.
